Course Description Guide
College in High School Courses
College in High School (CHS) courses provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credits and receive a grade on a college/university transcript for courses successfully completed. Students enrolling in the CHS courses will be required to pay a fee to the college/university for each course. Additionally, students may elect to take these courses without earning college credit. Fox Chapel Area High School currently has concurrent enrollment agreements with Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh, Seton Hill University and Westmoreland County Community College.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program gives students the opportunity to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. Students may receive advanced placement and/or credit upon entering college for their score on a national AP exam given in May. AP courses are weighted in computing QPA. Upon student request through College Board, grade reports are sent in early July to each student’s home address, school, and to his/her college. Many colleges grant credit and/or advanced placement to students whose AP exam grades are considered acceptable. Students who choose to take an AP exam must register to do so and assume the related costs.
